|High Tensile steels are a group of carbon steels which are suitably alloyed to improve their hardenability. The improved hardening ability allows these steels to be heat treated to achieve levels of strength greater than plain carbon steels, in the same size range.
Global Metals supplies a range of High Tensile grades. Each grade varies in alloying content, which influences tensile strength. This range offers good value in terms of tensile strength attainable for a particular sizes range when related to the cost of the contained alloys.
High Tensile steels are generally supplied hardened and tempered to conditions as described in the product description. In these conditions of medium to high strength, the steel can still be readily machined. High Tensile steels are also available in the as rolled condition allowing forging and heat treatment to be performed by the end user.
